There are other rockers out there, of course, to choose from, but our goal was to make a perfect rocker, one so great there just wouldn't be...well...a choice.
When considering a rocker for inside your home, consider the following:
- A rocker should be a rocker, not a chair put on rocker slats. If you sit in a chair on rocker slats you will notice that the rock does not feel natural. At Wild Mountain Rustics™ we designed our rockers as rockers. Scott, our engineer, tinkered with motion and angles of the rocker until it felt just right. We approached the design phase believing a rocker was different from a chair and rocking was a science. Truly, there is a difference, so sit and rock and make sure you are buying a rocker, not a chair (on rocker slats).
- Second, the wood and finish should be beautiful. The staining and distressing should look timeless and aged because rockers, both in their beauty and their motion should herald you back to an older time. We chose American Ash as our wood. Not only is American Ash extremely durable and hard but the grain of the wood provides a wonderful canvas on which to imbed a vintage hue. If you compare the finish on a Wild Mountain Rustics™ rocker to any other rocker you will appreciate the difference. Don't forget to run your hand across the grain of a piece you are looking to purchase. This will tell you a lot about the attention to finish.
- Size matters. Our rockers are big.
- Notice the little tail or arc on the back of our rocker slats. This gives you a soft push forward in your rocking motion and also inhibits the rocker from tipping (if you get a rowdy rocker).
- Wild Mountain Rustics Rockers™ are metal plated with our insignia on the back. Call us overly proud, but we do this because we believe your rocker will be an heirloom passed down...and an heirloom deserves to be properly identified.
